As a result of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, many policyholders, including many small- and medium-sized businesses, suffered loss or damage to their homes and business premises, including personal and other property. In addition, many businesses were destroyed or shut down as a result of damage or lack of access to their premises or to sources of supply.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed major parts of Louisiana almost 7 months ago and some people and businesses with insurance have yet to be paid by their insurance companies. Louisiana law requires that within 30 days after your insurance company is notified by you that you have suffered a property loss, your insurance company MUST “initiate Loss adjustment”. What this means is that they have to call you, come out and see your property and START HELPING YOU!!!!!
